To tie-in with the tournament, A FIFA 18 World Cup mode is apparently going to be coming to the game next week as DLC in preparation for the 2018 World Cup happening this summer in Russia.This is a new expansion for FIFA 18 rather than a standalone FIFA World Cup 2018 game.

In September,Spanish commentator Manolo Lama confirmed that the FIFA World Cup 2018 download is set to be released in the spring.And he said:"I have to record it for FIFA World Cup in December, I think it will be out in February or March.

The World Cup kicks off on June 14, so the expansion will definitely be released well in advance of this. As the end of the season is a busy period in FIFA Ultimate Team with Teams of the Seasons released for all the major leagues, there is a chance that the World Cup expansion may not be released until May.

The 2018 World Cup mode is set to be brought out in the coming weeks and it will be available on all the leading consoles such as Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Windows - with no word on whether PS3 and Xbox 360, the slightly older consoles, will get the download just yet.

Similarly, Windows and Nintendo Switch games also update automatically when they have new patches released and the console is connected to the internet. The download size of the expansion is not yet known, but will surely be less than the 47GB size of the full FIFA 18 game.

And the official FIFA World Cup 2018 expansion for FIFA 18 will feature all 32 teams that have qualified for the World Cup, as well as official branding and television match packages.Some of the official stadiums for the tournament will likely be included.
